Olds, AB

Hello friends. This past cross Canada tour was an amazing one. It was filled with 3 of my favourite things: memories, friendships, and music. We started off in Edmonton, AB at The Haven. Earlier in the day we recorded a quick live video of Gotye’s “Somebody I Used to Know” at The Acoustic Music Shop. It was on the fly and a lot of fun. You can watch it here. The next night we played in Olds, AB where the good times never stop. I highly recommend performing in this town.

Calgary

Next stop was Calgary at the wonderful Broken City. We got to play with our friends Hunger Hush & The Nix Dixons. Always a fun night when the band plays there. So many friendly faces.

The next show was in Regina. This was a fun night because I got to see an old friend that I haven’t seen in a while. We all had lunch the following day which was memorable too. At least it was St. Patty’s Day. We were lucky enough to spend it in Winnipeg that night. The band & I hung out at Lo Pub and caught some good music. A little foggy but I think green beer may have been involved? =)

The next stop on the tour was Thunder Bay. This show was definitely one of the highlights of the tour, and my life. We got to open for The Trews. It was a magical night in so many ways.

And the highlight of the night…The Trews! Wow what a show. One of their songs turned into our Tour’s theme song. “Hope & Ruin.” When they sang it, it was like one of those moments where everyone just gets it ya know. We all felt a happiness in our bones that was explicable.

We made some good friends with the other bands on the bill including Poor Young Things who were not only nice guys but play great tunes. Turned out we had to be in Peterborough the following night. That meant that an amazing night couldn’t go ALL NIGHT. Shortly after catching the end of The Trew’s set we had to book it the next city, a 18 hour drive ahead. Now the weather was on our side as there wasn’t any snow at this point. Things always change though. We drove through the night and took shifts as good bandmates do.

Peterborough

There were periods of fog which were kinda hard to drive in. At times we couldn’t see 2 meters ahead. It would come and go but eventually we arrived in Peterborough the following day at 6:30pm. We grabbed some dinner and were ready to play our show. We were lucky enough to open for another great band from the east coast, The Standfields. What a great night that was too!

CMW 2012 - Toronto

The following night was Day #1 of Canadian Music Week in Toronto.  We were fortunate enough to catch a lot of great shows and see friends old and new within the 5 days of the festival. Our showcase was a ton of fun! Read a nice review about it here.

We saw some great acts at the 2012 Sirius XM Indie Awards: The Pack AD & Dan Mangan, just to name a few. (see below)

The last day of the festival we did an interview & acoustic performance at Q107 with Candice Knihnitski. I had basically lost my voice from all the concerts & networking but had a great time none the less. You can watch the video below & listen to the interview & songs here.

The tour was amazing! I am currently song-writing for a new EP due in summer. Looking forward to sharing new material with you soon. Got a few other surprises too.
